It should have taken Juliette a single touch to kill Warner. But his mysterious immunity to her deadly power has left her shaken, wondering why her ultimate defense mechanism failed against the person she most needs protection from.

She and Adam were able to escape Warner’s clutches and join up with a group of rebels, many of whom have powers of their own. Juliette will finally be able to actively fight against The Reestablishment and try to fix her broken world. And perhaps these new allies can help her shed light on the secret behind Adam’s—and Warner’s—immunity to her killer skin.

Juliette’s world is packed with high-stakes action and tantalizing romance, perfect for fans of the Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard and the Darkest Minds trilogy by Alexandra Bracken.

Ransom Riggs, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, raved: "A thrilling, high-stakes saga of self-discovery and forbidden love, the Shatter Me series is a must-read for fans of dystopian young-adult literature—or any literature!"

All in the continuity of the first volume, we find Juliette at Point Omega. Castle, the person who runs this small society, asked him to learn how to control his power. But she doesn't know how to go about it. Castle has noticed that Juliette does not fit in easily into this new society and therefore goes to help her make new friends. Juliette then only has Sonya and Sare as friends, the two healing sisters. Castle will ask Kenji to stick to it because he is the only person who agrees to be close to Juliette (remember that Kenji worked alongside Adam in the ranks of Warner). Juliette and Kenji are going to have to spend time together and Juliette is going to have to accept others for her to be accepted. She will then meet several people, such as Ian, Emory, Brendan or even Winston. The latter having designed the gloves that allow Juliette to touch people without inflicting harm on them. The days pass and Juliette begins to get used to it. But when we believe that everything is fine, we learn something that changes everything a bit. Adam can no longer touch Juliette without it hurting him. Castle will then both be on my guard. Adam can no longer touch Juliette as before. This will then create a great cold between our two lovers.

After that, Castle sends troops outside, as he and his colleagues have noticed some unusual things. Warner is back and with even more men. Kenji and Juliette are then sent there. The village the troops went to is deserted, nothing is the same. Juliette then falls on Warner, but he does not see her. She then sees another person, she no longer recognizes Warner. He looks happier. The troops return empty-handed. Things are still happening. But there comes a time when things get weird and dangerous for people like Juliette. Warner's dad is in town and that doesn't bode well. And it is also at this time that four members of Point Omega are kidnapped, Ian, Emory, Brendan and Winston. A war is then declared between the rebels and the Reestablishment. On the heart side, things between Juliette and Adam are not going well... That's all I can say on this point because otherwise I'll tell you what's really going on between the two! There is also evolution in the character of Juliette. She discovers that she can do more things with her power, but also that she could do more harm. In this second opus, Juliette becomes more and more courageous over the pages, becomes more confidant. This is what makes her stronger but also more vulnerable, because she learns to know this so it could put her at a disadvantage against others who know their power. But hey, we love Juliette and we go with it! In this second opus, I liked Adam less. Maybe because he's not there much. Or simply that he wants more of Juliette but he doesn't understand that she is pushing him away for his own good. We discover more about Kenji and fortunately he is there to cheer up Juliette but who is also there to cheer her up and give her the right ideas. Second opus so awaited, and I was not disappointed, even if I must admit that I preferred the first volume, because in this one, things do not move much. We are staying at two locations, Point Omega and the town. But hey, we forgive the author for this lack of action, because she managed to bring me into her world. It is truly a pleasure to read his books.
